Throughout history, much has been quoted
From the mundane to the profound
Things said to prove a truth or point
Sometimes spoken on unethical ground
They are known to us as adages
Spoken to express a simple truth
Usually short and right on the topic
Delivered from pulpit, podium, or booth
Tomes are full of many famous adages
Separated by subject and gender
Each being said with sincere intent
By either a contributor or a defender
Some adages can be quite humorous
While others will make you cry
Some will make you stop and think
Others will make you ask, "Why?"
Most of all, they express the truth
Designed to make you deeply dwell
On things that we should be concerned
How we react, only time will tell
One of the hardest things to accept
Is the concept that we hold dear
Over deception, truth always wins out
As it produces victory over fear
Of all the adages that I hold dear
Is the one I proclaim loud and brave
The one that is the epitome of truth
Only two words, "Jesus Saves"
