Growing inside my womb
I’m adrift in grateful wonder,
And nine months may come too soon.
It’ll take that time to comprehend,
The Psalm One Thirty-Nine,
Where details of His involvement
Leave my heart and His entwined.
Still, I sought His conformation,
‘Are You happy, Holy King?’
I stormed the Heavenly Throne Room
And heard the angels sing.
Of course, no angel Gabriel,
Will announce your coming birth
That stunning act of wonder
Was for Jesus’ time on earth.
And yet the Holy Spirit whispered,
In a small and loving voice,
That I would birth a baby girl
My prayer and His wise choice.
That day He spoke, like others
I’d been musing on my plight,
My heart yearned for a baby
And I’d prayed both day and night.
“You are going to have a little girl.’
The still, small Voice had said.
And tears and laughter followed,
As the news settled in my head.
Your father, like Zechariah
Was a little less secure,
He would not join my laughter
Until the frog test proved the law.
From that moment on, my baby girl
I’ve prayed and mused and thought
Whose eyes? Whose nose? Or your very own
To this world, you will have brought.
I’m spending time in His Presence.
Checking He’s not forgot
A heart tuned first to Father God
Then fingers and toes – the lot.
Will you have your Daddy’s smile?
Or this Mother’s feisty ways?
I’ve set my heart to nurture you
And give Him all the praise.
Just yesterday, you jumped in fright,
When the car door suddenly slammed
Your ears are working perfectly
Just as God has planned.
It’s becoming quite apparent,
As your little body grows
That Mummer’s world is bilious green,
And emotions swing high and low.
Please take your time these nine full months
My body, the host of three
The Holy Spirit, your growing form
And then, of course, there’s me.
In your Book of Life, it’s written,
Of the day you will arrive
And of His kind intentions -
His purpose for you, my child.
That revelation brings on praise,
Of God, you’re fearfully formed
With Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual songs
I promise I’ll surround you, my sweet child yet Unborn.

This is delightful! It felt so real, so God-honoring, so joyful! I am a poetry fan and enjoyed this as a poem.
