One band of color in the sky has not a rainbow made.
The brilliant constellations which across night's sky are shown
Could never guide a trav'ler if each star were all alone.
One dolphin does not make a pod; one fish is not a school.
A grazer that departs the herd is certainly a fool.
A chicken that forsakes its brood and from its coop has flown
Is fodder for the predators that seek prey all alone.
One ant is not a colony; one bee is not a hive.
God made them in communities, their only way to thrive.
Once in to Adam's nostrils God the breath of life had blown,
He noted that it is not good for man to be alone.
A prima ballerina gives a gifted dance display,
But many are required to perform a full ballet.
While talented musicians may do solos on their own,
Exquisiteness of harmony cannot be made alone.
Believers are to be as one, His body and His bride,
Not isolated, or puffed up with selfishness and pride.
He quarries each believer as a precious living stone
To form His sanctuary, not a useless rock alone.
If body parts are missing, then how can it function well?
If blind and deaf and mute, how will of Jesus Christ it tell?
If you are missing cartilage, if you're a missing bone,
The body cannot stand and move with muscles all alone.
If segments of His sanctuary are not to be found,
How can it have stability to stand upon the ground?
How will it weather storms that come, the walls and pillars groan,
While you are wandering in the woods, or staying home alone?
How can we bear another's burdens who we do not know,
Or how is iron to sharpen iron, so that we all may grow,
If we are not connected as commanded 'round the throne,
Where Father, Son and Spirit work together, not alone.
