Rain pours gently and steadily.
in fine drops
on my umbrella
in rhythmic beats
—am I not thankful

It doesn’t come down
in torrents
soaking my shoes
and wetting my clothing
spoiling my day

Surely it gives relief
to a spell
of hot weather
that oppresses
the body and mind

At least away
from the heat
that causes heavy sweating
clammy skin
and tiredness

Drizzle moisturises
the flowers and plants
the garden soil and farm land
giving a clean refreshing facade
to the atmosphere

Let me look out
for the rainbow
as the fine drops fall
a splendid reminder
“Forget not My grace”

As I look up the words
of an old hymn
“Count your blessings”
to do a reality check
and be amazed by what the Lord’s done

So let me chime
count my blessings rain or shine
name them one by one
and let me be surprised
by what I can find

Help me not to complain
but always looking for things
to be grateful
for there are positive sides to everything
—blessings come in drops
