Some saw
the cruelty :
bodies torn
upon a cruel cross.
Some saw the blood,
the dying form,
some saw life-draining loss.
Some saw man’s power,
the wielded sword,
ability to send
men to their death,
judged and condemned,
their choice: a life to end.
Some saw the hammer
and the nails,
the wooden cross raised high,
some saw the execution tools,
some saw the condemned die.
Some saw the sadness,
some the tears,
some watched what man could do
And some were sad
And some rejoiced
And some despair, dark, knew…
BUT
Some
with sight from Heaven’s realm
saw Truth and Light revealed,
some saw the Hand of God draw back
the curtain – unconcealed
His Plan,
His saving Purpose, written
before all time began:
the wonderful Salvation of
helpless and fallen man.
Some saw
this Jesus on the cross
was God’s own Son come down
to save all those
who would believe,
to make the lost His own.
Some see
That Jesus is The Way.
The ever-open Door
Is open now to all who believe
For faith is being sure.
What do you see?
what eyes have you?
what does your mind conceive?
stand at the cross again
and look.

come,
see,
believe.
