Our feet are all too swift to go astray,
To follow every fleeting whim or fraud,
To falter and to fall in our own way.
Without the surety that we were made
By loving hands that would lead far from strife,
It's no surprise that we have not displayed
A reverence for ev'ry God-breathed life.
Without the certainty that God has planned
A future full of hope, both far and near,
And if we doubt our times are in His hand,
We're left to linger in the land of fear.
So faithless, we will hopeless, fearful be,
Believing endless death our destiny.
But with a strong and confident belief,
We overflow with peace and love and joy,
Such that our enemy, the lying thief,
Cannot intrude, intimidate, destroy.
With faith the substance of our hope, and Christ
The risen evidence of things not seen,
So valued by our Savior's sacrifice,
We treasure every image of His being.
With faith, the phantom fear is put to flight,
Replaced with power, love, and soundest mind,
No longer limited by earthly sight,
We're free to frolic in the peace we find.
With faith, all things are possible to be
Borne here, with Heaven for eternity.
