Jameson alerted the second shift officers. “I received an urgent message from the White House. The President wants to speak to three members of the Light Force. If you encounter Diamond, Blue Flame, or Megawatt, ask them to come see me ASAP, so I can convey the President message.”
Officer Harvey knew that Diamond frequented the U-Totem, so he advised the manager that the crime fighters were needed by the sheriff. His efforts were rewarded when three costumed figures walked into the sheriff’s office.
Jameson explained why they were summoned, but before he could complete his explanation, Megawatt spoke for the group. “Let the President know we’ll be there within the hour.”
The teen crimefighters presented themselves to the Secret Service. After a brief discussion about their masks, they were escorted into the Oval Office.
The President rose to shake their hands, and spoke quickly. “We’ve been informed by Pyongyang that they had an accident in a pharmaceutical lab. They requested your assistance in resolving it.”
Diamond responded, “Say no more, sir. If people are in danger, we will help." His teammates nodded vigorously.
Blue Flame queried, “Sir, are you sure this is not just a ploy to attack or capture us?”
The President grimaced. “If it is, I’d consider it an act of war."
Before long, the Light Force team was in the North Korean Presidential Palace, listening as an interpreter explained what the minister of defense was asking them to do. "A scientist broke a vial of microbes. He is immune, but is a carrier who can kill with a touch."
Megawatt asked the defense minister, “‘Capture’, him in what, sir?”
The older man lifted a case from under the table. When he opened it, they saw a containment suit.
Megawatt nodded. They now knew why they had been requested. Diamond was invulnerable in his diamond form, while the other two could turn into energy beings.
The defense minister opened a map and motioned them closer. The translator explained that the circle showed where the victims were. Megawatt noticed the circle covered a two mile radius, and asked where the carrier, whom he had designated "Sickman," was last seen.
The translator pointed to an X. They rose as one and flew East.
When they arrived, Blue Flame pointed into the crowd. “There he is,” recognizing him from the photo they’d the been shown. She and Megawatt switched into their energy forms, while Diamond went diamond. The energy heroes flew at the man, who cowered at their approach. He tried to touch them, but the energy pair kept him hemmed in while Diamond tossed the suit at him.
With a look of resignation, the man donned the containment suit. In passable English he inquired, “Now what? You turn me in to government?”
With reluctant looks, they nodded, reverting to their human forms.
As instructed, they brought him to a military base outside the city. When they landed, they recognized the president and the translator. The president stepped toward the teens and opened a box carried by an aide. The translator explained that they were being given the highest civilian award for their service.
After the ribbons were placed around their necks, Diamond asked, "What will happen to the carrier?"
The translator relayed, “That is classified.”
Megawatt responded, “Very well. We will return home," and they took flight.
Instead, they hovered, and soon saw the prisoner, still in his containment suit, being lashed to a post in a courtyard. The soldiers raised their rifles. Before the command to fire was given, the teens descended into action. Diamond landed in front of the prisoner, while his teammates flanked the soldiers with Megawatt making a shield of electricity and Blue Flame melting the gun barrels with her laser powers.
When the soldiers were disarmed, Diamond ripped off the medal he had just received and shouted, “WE'RE SICKENED TO RECEIVE AN AWARD FOR DELIVERING HIM TO BE EXECUTED!”
His teammates followed suit.
As they gathered the terrified carrier to fly him away, Megawatt spoke to the American President.
“Sir, with permission, we’d prefer to take this man to the aircraft carrier we saw as we flew here.”
The President agreed, and the teens delivered 'Sickman' to American forces.
