The massive assembly quiets.
Michael begins, “Your assignment was to come up with a slogan-of-eternity for the much-needed superior Christian branding strategy. Innovative words, congruent with God’s values and qualities, opposite of the ‘you-know-who’ competition. It must resonate every single soul. Solid, not flakey. A whopper of a slogan that NO human can refuse, to bring those numskulls to God. I am anxious to hear your ideas. Let’s begin.”
Multiple hands rise.
“You, go first.” Michael points to one.
“We’re all tired of the world stealing from God, right?”
“Amen!” The harmonious choir sings.
Michael stirs up the crowd, “This slogan will be on billboards in every city, on every bumper sticker, framed in homes, posted on all computers, so fantastic that no human will refuse our Lord. Okay, go ahead.”
With attitude, he exclaims, “So, turn-about and shout: HAVE IT HIS WAY!”
Cheers ensue.
“Good, but…”
Defending his pitch, “A similar slogan is making thousands eat burgers…”
Mumbles replace cheers.
“Of course, we angels want it HIS way. The problem is their majority really want things their own way. Good try, though not the right focus to capture them.” He tosses a poster into the abyss. “Next.”
“As I traveled the earth gathering data, it’s obvious that they ‘love’ their food, yet use the term ‘love’ too lightly.”
“Amen, amen.” In harmony the masses agree.
“Let’s get ‘love’ where it belongs: ‘HE’s LOVIN’ YOU!’”
Michael waits for loud applause to subside, “God IS the author of love.
But for the very reason that they use it haphazardly, I fear this won’t penetrate the soul. Plus, it lacks specificity. The ‘he’ may be misconstrued as a boyfriend. Next.”
“YOU’RE IN GREAT HANDS!” another idea is shouted.
Michael thinks aloud, “To me this says, whatever the circumstances, being in the presence of God is peace and rest. Hmph, too many blame God for bad days, bad events and their own poor choices. Nope, this slogan is not guaranteed insurance that they’ll accept Him.”
“I’ve got a great one!” voice from the back.
“Let’s hear it.”
“They think the happiest place on earth is where a mouse lives. Listen to this: HEAVEN: THE HAPPIEST PLACE AFTER EARTH.”
Angelic roars fill the air.
“It’s actually very good, but my concern is that too many humans think there are many ‘ways’ to heaven. We know, He is the only Way.”
“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lamb of God.” Praises the angelic ensemble.
“An undeniable powerful connection to Jesus is needed. So, this isn’t the clincher. Any more?”
Another, “How about: HEEEEEE’S GREEEEAAAT!!!”
“Bravo! That’s our Lord. But again when enticing the multitudes who think athletes, actors and acrobats are great, it loses its punch.”
Another, “DON’T LEAVE EARTH WITHOUT HIM!”
Harmony is lost in the ovation!
“I like it! Let’s think on this one. The ‘HIM’ is God and The ‘what’ is spend eternity with God. But, something’s missing…”
“HE DELIVERS.” Shouts another.
Michael contemplates, “Profound, honest, short, punchy. Aha, a combo! No need to get caught up in a four to five-word requirement for a slogan. Christian branding is forging that irresistible emotional connection to God no matter how long the letter.”
Thunderous applause.
“It conveys that God is not just better. He’s the WAY, the TRUE GOD…”
Praises resound.
“… who loved...”
Applause and praise cease abruptly, as all angels bow down.
Not noticing, Michael continues, “…who loved the world enough to send His one and Only Son.”
Michael looks up, then falls to his knees, “Lord!” he stutters, “We were, uh, working on…”
He bows speaking as fast as angelically possible, “A Christian-brand-slogan for all-eternity that will resonate with every soul. So not one will refuse eternal life,” his head hits the floor.
Michael stutters, “Yes Lord, my enthusiasm may have exceeded my memory. You are evident in all creation.
Angelic voices, “Holy, Holy, Holy.”
“Your Word is written for them, even on their hearts.
Angels’ voices rise, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty!”
“I know,” he gulps, “those ‘numskulls’ do get to propel Your Good News, without a five to six-word slogan.”
“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty! To Him be praise and honor and glory and power!”
HIS loving embrace encompassed every one of them.
Michael stands, “You heard HIM, back to your posts.”
“THIS IS ETERNAL LIFE, THAT THEY KNOW YOU THE ONLY TRUE GOD, AND JESUS CHRIST WHOM YOU HAVE SENT.” (Jn 17:3)
