When God put man on the earth, we were given an eternal soul and a mind of our own as free moral agents with the ability to make choices. God invited man to chose to obey his commandments. We read, "And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee." Exodus 15:26
However, man as a fallen creature, has followed a life of rebellion and turned his back on the God of heaven... "And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?" Exodus 16:28
God chose a small nation of people who became known as "Israel" and sought to reveal his power, grace and glory to the whole world through this chosen people as revealed in the Word of the LORD. Ultimately it would be this small nation and people by whom God would bring the promised Messiah into the world by means of a virgin birth in the little town of Bethlehem. The world needed a Saviour and God chose his only begotten Son to redeem sinful men by means of death and resurrection.

We read in John 3:17, " For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." The Jewish people sacrificed lambs as an offering to God for the forgiveness of sins and they previewed the ultimate Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah. They took the Son of God, a man without sin and crucified him. Like a lamb offering, He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day. and even today our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ offers to take the sins of those that believe on Him. "The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe." John 1:7

Christians send missionaries around the world according to the Great Commission, as the Lord commanded his disciples.... Matt 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spoke unto them saying, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. A-men."

We read where Jesus tells us he knows who will repent of their sins and accept him. John 6: 64-65. " But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believe not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you that no man can come unto me except it were given unto him of my Father." The Father has given us all a call torepentance and it is our decision if we accept the Lord as our Savior, and repent of our sins.

When a person hears a preacher say, "Repent and come to Christ," they can choose to resist that call. He or she can disobey and say "No, I will not repent and be saved." Accepting the free gift of God's grace and eternal salvation in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ should not be taken lightly, as it is the most important decision we will make in our earthly life. Let us stop and think; will we put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ?
