Lessons of Love

Said the gander to the goose, “Let’s cross the road today, and go to the lake.”
Said the goose to the gander, “That’s too dangerous and I am too scared to do it.”
“Just follow me my dear, and all would be fine and dandy,” he said with pride-
“Listen to my plea and do not take this step of danger,” she pleaded in vain.
He walked ahead; she followed meekly to die on the spot in a car accident.

The devastated gander turned and walked to her side and saw her mangled body-
He stood there day and night as a sentinel for no one could move him from her.
Crowds of people came to watch the sight till he dropped beside her in death.
Men and women wrote letters to the dead geese and made changes in their lives.
“We have learnt to respect our families,” said everyone who heard the story.

There are so many lessons that we can learn from the animal kingdom. Gorillas help each other in grooming their young. They touch each other’s noses as a sign of greeting and assurance that they will help one another. Adult males take care of orphan babies. If these wild animals care for each other so much, how much more should we care for our loved ones? There are so many families where the old and weak parents are neglected. Some think if they send their elderly parents to group homes their responsibility is over. If you talk to the care-takers they will tell you how much these parents long for a visit from their children, and yearn to see their grandkids.

Jesus is our example. Even when He was on the cross He thought of His mother and committed her care to His beloved disciple, John. May we follow His example in our families. We should teach our children to keep the fourth commandment to honor their fathers and mothers so that their lives may be long in the land that the Lord God gives them.

good devotional thoughts - 3rd sentence, I think would is incorrect -maybe will be

Interesting example from the animal Kingdom. The opening poem could use a little work in terms of flow and rhythm but I thought this was a very original take on the topic.
