I have been sitting here thinking of the training ground and the discipline that God had been teaching me prior to my husband’s suicidal death. The word discipline is defined in the dictionary as “the training effect of experience and adversity.” Life is a training ground where we become equipped to face the trials that we encounter. In our lives we will encounter broken dreams, losses, rejections and many difficult circumstances. It is in these experiences that valuable lessons are learned. These pages are dedicated to those of you have suffered loss of any kind. It is my desire that you will feel a new ray of hope springing up within your soul and that your faith will be rekindled after reading this article.
Here under the desk lamp, in the quiet of the night, I feel impelled to share some of my life’s blessings and insights with you. I believe God has been preparing me to help others who have walked a rugged pathway. In my journey, there were many thorns encountered. However I want to share how God poured the oil of the Holy Spirit upon those wounds, causing healing to come. There are many kinds of wounds that can occur in our lies, but in my opinion one of the worst is emotional wounds. It takes a very long time to heal the scars of suffering when there is an emotional wound. The healing process cannot be hurried, for it takes time to sort out the bruised feelings we have acquired through the years of suffering. When depression would sweep over me like a heavy cloud I learned to abide in God. He became my hiding place, my place of refuge. As I listened to his voice, I would hear Him say, “Abide in me, Rest in me by the “Eye of faith”.
Often when tragedy occurs, we experience feelings we do not understand. We need to acknowledge these feeling and accept them. Feelings are neither right or wrong. Denying the feelings within us will not make them disappear. Some of the feelings I am referring to are things such as anger, denial, and resentment etc. We may have justifiable reason for these feelings nevertheless it will destroy our peace unless we work through them. There are many other areas in our lives that will give us unrest unless we turn them over to Christ.
So, now you find yourself wounded and bleeding. Must you lay there in the ashes of your life never to get up? Is life over. No, this is not the end, but the beginning of a new page, a new chapter in your life. We must let God pick up the pieces and go on with our lives. There are new horizons on just the other side. We must face the dawn of each new day with great anticipation. We must meet each new challenge with a smile as we continue on. So, where do we begin as we embark on this journey? When you can’t see where you are going, you must travel by your faith. God is the pilot and He will show you the way. Also getting involved in the lives of others helps us to forget ourselves as we focus on how we can help someone else. With God’s help we can adjust to the changes in our lives and with the changes will come new dimensions we never dreamed could be possible. We are but tools in the Master’s hands, and as we allow Him to do the work the results will be beautiful. We may stumble on the path from time to time and perhaps even fall down, but we must pick ourselves up and keep persevering.
Have you been crushed by some bitter experience?. Just today I heard it said, “when God wants to do an impossible task, he takes an impossible man and crushes him.’ Whatever your wounds have been caused by, God can heal and restore your life. He wants to replace your tears with smiles and transform your struggles into success. All you must to is trust him by the “Eye of Faith”.
