Down golden streets and past beautiful mansions, Hope, an angel with soft blue eyes, finds Raphael on a green, sloping knoll covered in beautiful flowers. Raphael looks commanding with his glowing, white gown and golden belt. He is directing the plans for this exciting occasion.
Hope is a bit concerned.
“Raphael, I have searched our records and have not found any relations of Mary Perkins to welcome her home.”
Raphael looks down, “Yes, I know. It would seem that she is the only one in her family to accept Jesus’ sacrifice, but she attends a small church and some of those members are here. They can’t wait to see her again.”
A crowd begins to gather at the Gate of Pearl. Marjorie Baker is one of those waiting.
“Is she here yet? I can hardly wait to see her again. Did you know that she took the time to visit me when I was in the hospital? I hadn’t much time left, and I knew I was going to hell. Mary took my hand and spoke softly of heaven and the things Jesus did for me on the cross. I had led a bitter life since my husband left me to raise our children alone. I couldn’t forgive him. Mary explained to me that Jesus forgave me of all my sins, and so must I forgive Henry. I did, just as death came to take me. I was immediately engulfed with love Himself. He came to take me to heaven. I am so grateful that Mary told me about Him.”
Jessie Peterson speaks up.
“I worked for the electric company where Mary came to pay her bill. She was faithful every month, and she always asked me if I knew her Jesus. I didn’t pay any attention to her for a long time, but one day, her words penetrated my heart until I couldn’t ignore the question anymore, but I didn’t know how to pray. I couldn’t wait for Mary to come again. She prayed with me and I received Jesus too. I’m so glad I did because I had a heart attack and died shortly afterward.
“Have you seen her mansion? It’s beautiful. I’ve seen some wonderful things here, but the exquisite things that Jesus has prepared for her cannot even be imagined. I can hardly wait for her to see it.”
Others, many others, have come now, waiting to welcome Mary into this blissful place. The angel, Hope, is becoming even more excited. His eyes light up even more with the prospect of the reunion. He jumps up and down and does a little dance on the pretty white flowers that go right through his legs as he steps on them. Then he remembers something else about Mary.
“She prays continuously, and we have a thick book of her requests. Her children and family members are at the top of her list.”
Raphael looks intently into Hope’s eyes.
“Yes, Holy Spirit continuously whispers in their ears and speaks to their hearts to come to Jesus. So far, they have rejected His urging. Because of Mary’s prayers, He will continue to woo them. It hurts the Father so to see even one of his beloved not coming to Him. He knows what awaits them in hell, and He has prepared so much for each of them here in heaven.”
Hope’s eyes are more fixed now, and he shudders a little just at the thought of any soul going into the hands of that devil, Satan.
Raphael tells him, “I must attend to my duties, Mary’s time is close. See, Mercy and Goodness are readying her.”
“Yes, and do you know what else I heard? I heard that she has been granted the privilege of being transported in the golden chariot with white horses. Not everyone gets to do that.”
“The Father grants that honor to those held in very high-esteem. Mary is one of those.”
Hope begins his dance all over again.
“Look! Another cloud of witnesses is gathering. The trumpeters are ready. A chorus of angels is waiting, and her friends are at the front of the crowd. She is quite famous and loved here in heaven.”
The thundering of mighty hooves can be heard.
“Here she comes! Let the festivities begin!”
