Topic: Ow! (01/07/10)
It was a cool Sunday morning. The sun glistened off the steeple as I entered the small country church. I found a seat on the back pew and watched as everyone rushed to their regular seats. It would be a crime if they had to sit somewhere different for one Sunday. No one had time to stop and say hello. A tear slipped down my face as I noticed the empty pew where the Thomas family usually sat. It was a shame they had chosen to stay away.

The warmth was gone from the services. It had been replaced with the coldness of routine. All of the joy, that was once here, seemed to have left. They should be excited about the Lord and doing His will, but instead, they sit here as statues following their schedule without flaw.

The preacher finished a very politically correct message. Doesn’t anyone care that people are attacking this Christian nation? The musicians started playing as he called for an invitation. An invitation to what? Jesus was never even mentioned.

As I surveyed the room, I saw Mark, a young man of the church, coming forward. I shook my head knowing what he would say when he spoke. He would apologize for his unchristian-like behavior, because he was caught. The only thing on his mind was who would be at the next party.

While the show finished and final prayer was given, I sat in the corner stunned. My tears flowed freely as the countless souls filed out and went their own ways. These people say, “Ow!” when they stub their toe. They have no idea what pain is, or how my heart breaks as I watch them live their lives. I am still here and I still love them.

Very thoughtful message with a great gotcha ending. Like the title, too.

Needs some work, the third party speak in a couple of places did not flow well. I guess the 'gotcha' at the end was the "ow". Keep writing.

God's passion is people. I heard someone say the other day how it pains Him when one dies without Him.
