Everyone has experienced it. It is no respecter of persons. Whether you are rich, poor, strong, weak, smart, dumb, famous or not, you are guaranteed to have an “Ow” moment, or two…or three…thousand! It is simply an unavoidable aspect of human life. The “Ow” happens!
By way of word picture, I hope you will feel these “Ow” moments, in four areas of life.
The Physical Ow
What a rush! Here I am free falling 10,000 feet above the earth. How crazy is that! I’m so excited my adrenaline is pumping faster than Santa’s reindeer on Christmas. I’m actually flying! Free as a bird! I wish this could on forever! Oh, it’s time to pull the chute. Hmmm. What did they say again? Was it the red cord or the blue cord? Red is for emergency…so it must be blue. Yes, it was the blue cord…or was it red? Righty tighty; Lefty loosey? No, it was definitely blue. Got it! Pull the…
Ow!
The Mental Ow
“When the molecules of the indefinite article begin to bond with gaseous transforming mites, the spectrum of inexistence is sheered, leaving nothing but an electrical shock equal to that of a stratus meteor fully charged by the ions of cumulus clouds after a nuclear dip in the iodonic esoteric module of precipitation and solar imminence…"
Ow!
The Emotional Ow
Dear Jim,
I have spent many weeks wondering if I should write this letter. As you know, as a result of my openness, I have experienced many deep hurts in the past. But, with you, I once again feel safe. I don’t know if I will ever meet anyone like you again. You have been my strength, my encouragement…my knight in shining armour! Thank you for being there for me during some of my darkest days. Jim…I love you! More than you’ll ever know! I really want to take our relationship to the next level.
Always and forever,
Susie
Dear Susie.
Who are you?
Jim

The Spiritual Ow
The God of love, who not only loves but is love, creates a masterpiece. It is good. No. It is very good! He breathes life into humanity and places them in the center of Paradise. There is no pain, no tears, no need and no death. In fact, the beautiful vast garden is overflowing with life…life abundant! There is unconditional love, unspeakable joy and unsurpassed peace in every nook and cranny. Daily the Creator walks and talks with his beloved Creation. It is perfect.
There is even complete freedom…with the exception of a single rule. Anything, and everything, in Eden can be enjoyed to the fullest, save for one tree. The Lord had said, “You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.” However, “when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.” Genesis 3:2, 6 (NKJV)
Ow!
The last “Ow” is what’s responsible for all of our “Ow” moments. However, the worst part is that it not only hurt us, but it hurt God. It was a double “Ow.”
But, thanks be to Jesus, “who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross." Philippians 2:6-8 (NKJV)
Because Jesus willingly experienced, and conquered, death – which is the greatest “Ow” - we now have the hope of once again living in an “Ow-less” world.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:4, 5 (NKJV)
No more "Ow". That’s good news!
