in the same cold cell
rotting away in misery
again.
I’ve forgotten
the stench and the smell
of loneliness and agony
again.
I’ve chased and dreamed
found passing pleasure
but the pain won’t subside
again.
They promised me
happiness, power, treasure
I know now they lied
again.
I wanted control
someone to love me
instead this gray room
again.
I can’t escape
there’s no key
just impending doom
again.
It didn’t happen
release from these chains
seems hopeless
again.
Won’t someone help
redeem these remains
so helpless
once and for all.
Assuage the pain
grant me a reprieve
I want to survive
once and for all.
Bring breath and being
my heartache relieve
so I can thrive
once and for all.
Can I now dream
of being free
truly understand
once and for all?
Can there be
a passport to liberty
in my hand
once and for all?
