Are coming, ‘tis that time of year!
I wait, sometimes impatiently
For mail each day to come to me.
I open cards, and in each one
There is the news of God’s own Son.
Born in a manger long ago
That salvation I may come to know.
The different paintings play a part
Of stirring Christmas in my heart.
Artists from each tribe and tongue
Depict the birth of God’s dear Son.
Vibrant colors paint the scene
The artist’s brush marks smooth and keen.
A warmth begins, an inner glow,
The season’s love is mine, I know!
And then the words, poet’s delight,
Explains the birth of Christ that night.
Then wishing me His very best
At Christmas time, His peace and rest.
I hang my cards over the door
So there is no way to ignore,
What I feel each time I see
The cards, oh how they speak to me!
Another Christmas soon has passed,
I longed for it somehow to last
A little longer, for you see,
These greeting cards touch even me.
I take them down, put them away,
The glow within me dims each day.
What is it about Christmas time
That makes me feel so bright and fine?
As I ponder on these things
I miss the joy that Christmas brings.
The cards play such a vital part
Of bringing Christmas to my heart.
And then I gaze into a mirror
And see a flickering light appear.
It’s there, I see it in my eyes
The Christmas spirit, such surprise!
I look into my frowning face
But soon a smile takes its place.
His light of love, it dwells in me,
For Christmas is all year, you see!
The mirror shows I stand so tall
Filled with joy once and for all.
Vibrant, I’m no longer dim,
Because my heart is filled with Him!
The Master Artist with each stroke
Has made me pure, my sins revoked.
That makes it Christmas every day,
Because my sins are washed away!
Poetic words within me flow,
Scripture verses that I know.
They speak the truth of Christmas time,
And every day these words are mine!
I carry Christmas every day,
His life-size card, to do and say
The things His Spirit tells me to,
On Christmas, and the whole year through!
