As she scrambled to exit from her favorite ride.
"I reached for my bag on the passenger seat
And a mouse dashed away with a hop and a squeak!
What can I do? I will not drive back.
I can't ride the bus, I can't take a hack!
I live two hours away and my nerves are in shreds
That mouse has to go before I lose my head!
I need to find help!
What I need is a man
Who will make the mouse go-
That is, if he can."
So, swiftly she walked to the office nearby
And the horrors of mousedom she did decry.
The workers inside clutched their side with much glee
At the tale of the mouse and it's Nissan RV.
One girl nearby-
An author at heart,
Grabbed up a pen
And a story did start.
Another staff member,
A strong valiant male,
Took the keys and a spoon-
Adding to the tale.
He went to the car
And thoroughly dug through it,
Trying to find the mouse
So he could remove it.
No mouselet he found,
There were only small traces
Where the mouse had inhabited
Several places.
"That's it!" the intern cried in dismay.
"Should I trust that it has just gone away?
If it pops its head out during my long drive
I won't be responsible for the cars passing by."
She called up her husband
In great agitation
And excitedly explained
The whole situation.
He could not help
But he was sure someone could.
There had to be an office close
That could do her some good.
"Aha!" she decided.
"I will call the police."
If they could help,
Then she would have peace.
The police decided it was out of their jurisdiction
Because it truly sounded like the best kind of fiction.
She insisted it wasn't
So they transferred her call
To the animal control,
Which was just down the hall.
Animal control,
Although much intrigued,
Decided that this case
Was way out of their league.
They told her to wait just
"One moment, please."
Then gave her the verdict
Upon which they'd agreed.
They would have a cop come
With sirens a-blaring.
"Oh great," she thought.
"Now folks will be staring."
Not one, but two, cops
Quickly arrived.
They cased out the car
And quickly surmised
That the suspect had fled
While leaving behind
Evidence of it's presence
Of the grossest kind.
"I'm sorry ma'am.
There's nothing we can do.
He didn't take your car,
And he didn't harm you.
However, we would like, on the city's behalf
To thank you for giving these two officers a laugh."
