A twelve-year-old Ethiopian girl was abducted from her home by seven men. This was their usual way of getting young women into customary forced marriage. She resisted and protested with loud cries as they dragged her along.
When they reached the outskirt of Bita Genet Wondimu a strange phenomenon took place.
The wailing victim brought out three lions who chased the captors away.
They then stood guard around her for more than twelve hours.
Meanwhile, a search party of family and Police personnel combed the areas.
When they arrived at the scene, where the victim lay, the lions left and went back into the forest. The Police were spellbound.
According to the officers the lions left as if they gave a gift to us.
“This is a miracle because the lions would attack.”
Later four of the attackers were taken into custody so they were now hunting for the other three.
