Topic: CABIN (09/08/22)
As I lay on my bed in that place between sleep and wakefulness, I saw it: old and practically falling apart, a cabin made of wood that seemed dried out and ready to break. With trepidation, I opened the screen door and knocked on the entrance door, although I knew no one was there. With a squeak and then a crack, the door opened when I turned the knob. I stepped inside.

Oh my! The cabin’s only room was bathed in brilliant white light that filled my entire being. It felt like liquid love. I wished I could stay there forever.

Lovely tables, sofas, and chairs, all made of pure crystal, were tastefully situated throughout the room. Precious gems lay all around but what caught my eye were the many unwrapped gifts scattered about the entire chamber. Looking closer, they each had a gift tag, and after the word “To:” was my name. After the word “From:” I read, “The Holy Spirit.” Underneath those words, each gift had a name that called out to me. One was named the Word of Wisdom, and another the Word of Knowledge. The others were Faith, Gifts of Healing, Working of Miracles, Prophecy, Discerning of Spirits, Tongues, and Interpretation of Tongues.

These beautiful gifts were all mine, but for what? While pondering this question, I heard a voice speaking directly to me. I could not see anyone; I just heard a still, small voice from behind me:

“This old cabin is you. You feel like you are falling apart because your earthly house, which is your body, is aging. Don’t be concerned about that; you will soon have an incredible new body. Inside you are gifts from God that He wants you to use. Why have you never unwrapped them and seen what is inside? They are yours, but they are not for you to keep. Instead, you must give them away. Open your heart and let your light shine out to the world. Give these precious gifts to others to bless their lives.”

Suddenly, I was awake. Was this just a dream, or had I heard from God or perhaps an angel? No matter what, I knew what I had to do. One by one, I began to open the gifts and God brought me to people who needed them.

So, please, you do the same: open your heart, let your light shine and use the gifts He has given to you to bring glory to Him and blessings to others.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NKJV)

I can relate to this story more than I care to admit. I do believe God speaks to us in dreams and those moments between sleep and wakefulness. I liked your Bible verses and your message is quite profound.

Your first two paragraphs piqued my curiosity and interest. I wondered where you were going with this.

It was a very unique way of portraying the available gifts of the Spirit. God wants us to use the gifts He has given to us, but we have to be willing to use them for His glory. Our age doesn't matter. Use what He has given in whatever time we have left on this earth.
