The Barometer of Life.

The damn beast charged,
Like an aeroplane about to take off,
Did not tax but marathoned.
I never saw it come!
The damn animal hit me hard,
Felling me down like a tree!

Arorororororororororooo… go back!
My driver and herdsmen shouted.
Ready to gorge me to death but scared too,
The damn devil, fled for its life!
Still alive but devastated, I was lifted up,
Like a fallen log, from the ground.
My right leg, facing behind-
Instead of the usual front – oh God!
My body, soul and spirit seemed to have ended.

My ocular-audio senses remained alert
And working for all the others…
Extreme dis-ease, discomfort enveloped me,
From cranium to toes – inside out – allover.
Thanks to aesthetic science and sleep!!!
Waking up in a hospital room,
Surrounded by family and friends
Joy and peace briefly returned to my soul.

Suddenly, a gush of sorrow struck me!
Like a torrential rain,
From cranium to my toes.
The center of gravity, my injured leg,
Was twitching volumes of negative only vibes
Never experienced before!
All of me picked the same sensations.

With my fibular and tibia bones fractured
By the unrepentant bull
And suspended between pulleys
And encased in a plaster of Paris,
Completely demobilized,
Like a war captured injured soldier,
I surrendered to consuming suffering.
Suffering, every moment, everywhere,
Brought insomnia;
Insomnia bled anxiety;
Anxiety delivered depression
And depression brought great fear.

Like a baby strung in its babyhood chains,
Like biblical Job struck by his enemies,
Now condemned to a hospital bed,
With all ingredients of pleasure gone,
I surrendered to dictatorial arsenals of Satan:
Insomnia, fear, anxiety, restlessness…depression.

Four years later,
The Lord’s Angel suddenly took charge.
Deployed at my home bed-side,
Summoned transcendental sleep from heaven,
From 9:00pm to 6:00am next morning.
Hearken and behold! The devil had fled!
Healing galore, all my salvation, joy, peace and tranquility-
All returned and, once more, I was a new creation. 2 Cor. 5:17.

Well that was a great entry on the subject and objectivity of pain. You had me caught up- convinced at one stage that you had lost the leg. Relieved on reading of restored sleep and healing. Good stuff.

You have some great descriptions in here that create a vivid picture. A tiny thing is you said you never saw it coming, but in the line before described its charging like an aeroplane which seems like a contradiction. I really like how you showed how the pain led to anxiety and depression. This is profound and something we need to understand and see in others. You've a beautiful message here.
