Topic: PAIN (04/21/22)
When I poured out my heart to my friend, instead of patting me on the back and giving me some warm fuzzy remarks, he pointed out how wrong I was in my thinking. Ouch! He put his finger on my erroneous, sinful thoughts, which held me captive. I was angry with him. He hurt me, but I knew he was right. Because he is a friend whose wisdom I trust, I opened my heart and received his correction. So, not knowing how to do it, I chose to move forward. I prayed that God would change my heart and my mind. Graciously, He did just that.

He will respond with the miracle when we desire to heal and transform our thoughts and attitudes. God did this miracle in me. I no longer have pictures in my head of the sinful acts of my past, and my heart no longer yearns for their momentary pleasures.

The Word says,

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend.” (Proverbs 27:6 NKJV)

The wound was indeed painful, but it brought healing. Had my friend remained silent or tried to encourage me with platitudes of goodwill, I would undoubtedly have remained enslaved by my thoughts. I am grateful for these faithful wounds from my friend.

Many things in life are hurtful, but I believe we can learn from them and go on to better things. For another example, I was hurt when my job, which I loved, ended and my talents were no longer necessary to the company. I felt rejected and somewhat lost. However, I know from experience that God has a superior plan to follow the hurt. Even though waiting can be stressful, He will always turn our mourning into dancing!
