History, in the minds of great scholars,
Sages and authors, began the story told
Of humankind, and the inhabited world.
Did history begin Napoleonic Wars?
Or way back at Columbus’ ocean detours?
Of much scrutiny to unfold.
Much learning and study to behold.
History-- why we need to know as thinkers?
Why is there history at all?
To what purpose is history recorded?
What happened in time and space?
Why crucially unravel?
Why record events and be dated?
Have conflicts and resolves taken place?
Stories of human life woven like a tapestry.
Masterfully knit humankind meshed together.
Unique expression of freedom and order.
Man and woman, complement where they lack in bravery.
And enrich family, resilient from moral decline to stand free.
Warring empires ruin human desire to prosper.
Ideologues and kings destroy and scatter.
Humankind. Remnants rebuild their beloved history.
For most stories are realities of entropy.
Horrifying and anathema to the human soul.
An affront to the spirit of divine holiness.
Humankind is blessed on earth to work it.
So, when did history begin as a whole?
What is it that empowers human in all his battles?
Uprisings and upheavals in the Middle East.
Capitalist Democracy, radical socialism and strife.
Totalitarian gags, feuds and schisms trifle
With time to fix and space to work, to create and exist;
Given to humankind in every society, revive.
What makes human life move forward rendering wars futile?
Human history isn’t that bad and despairing.
We advanced technology and science;
Art, music, literature, culture and ideas.
Christianity, Reformation-- withstanding
the test of time, awakening.
Faith and moral compass passed on to generations.
Truth and defense of faith blessed nations.
Humans revive through hard times like seasons changing.
From where did all human history begin?
Teachers, scholars and sages lay the foundation
Of the idea of history to the ancient Hebrews.
To the Bible, compared to other ancient writing.
Heroes of faith-- Abraham, Joseph and Moses of Zion.
From ancient history, making redemptive breakthroughs.
Biblical history, story of heroes' bravery and faith
From way back in time of the Covenant
With God and Abraham, like the stars of heaven:
“Through you, I will bless all families on earth.”
I will bless you, Abraham, in your seed the Messiah’s birth
To save the world, and dwell among humankind.”
Past and future reconcile since the world began.
The story of exodus, God’s Law and Instruction, the Covenant.
History began, repeats itself to this day.
In God’s appointed times, designed direction:
Stories of battles, wars, progress, uprisings, victories.
Evil kings oppress freedoms, die in moral decay.
All arriving at fixed time and space since Creation.
God’s Covenant of faith, grace, holiness—story of His mercies.
Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. In you will all of the families of the earth be blessed."
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
