In the stillness of the night sky
Travellers from afar
Long awaited promises
Guided by a bright star.
Where is the One we are seeking?
They queried of the King
He brought together learned men
A prompt response to bring
In lowly town of Bethlehem,
Beheld Mary and babe
The future Savior of the World
Mankind He came to save
They bent their knees in reverence,
Bathed in wonder and awe
Just as it had been prophesied
Amazed by all they heard and saw.
The wise men lay gifts at his feet
Frankincense, myrrh, and gold
Great riches for the King of Kings
A treasure to behold.
The first burns an incense of prayers,
Lifted up to our Priest
A sweet fragrance of redemption
Sin and death's power ceased.
The second is a soothing salve,
Aromatic perfume
A prophetic message foretold
Christ arose from the tomb.
The third is by far more precious,
For true love to possess
It holds the key to salvation
Place of eternal rest.
We have now seen the Christ child,
Our Priest, Prophet and King
Rejoice! the Prince of Peace has come
His praises we now sing.
