Confession of a Wife!
Dear wedded husband,
Whom, from so many, I chose,
For a cherished soul-mate,
To love and to be loved,
And ‘’for better, for worse,
Till death do us part’’.
Where have you been to come so late?
You incredible husband,
Who, like a madman,
Recklessly drives gazing everywhere,
At women in costly attires,
As if selected by you,
And paid for by you,
And for me, your so called wife,
You can hardly glance at me.
You annoying, wretched husband,
Will no one help me to pluck off,
Those treacherous eyes of yours?
That keep wandering here and there.
I would rather have a blind man,
Forcefully disciplined by disability,
Than end up in a deep ditch!
Just to fulfil that vow ‘’for worse…’’ for my kids!
My lustful husband,
When will you ever mature or reform?
Like a glutton who craves for party meats,
So do you on roasted meat in bars,
Carousing endlessly and ravenously,
And when you are back home late,
Smelling alcohol and divers perfumes,
You detest my food, feigning chronic ulcers!
You incredible husband,
For whom a permanent cure,
Must be speedily found –
‘’…For better, for worse…’’
Oh how you torment my soul!
See how you flirtatiously eye my sister,
Through the driving mirror,
Like junior looking at celerac!
Or a puppy at a chunk of meat!
Oh mother! Tell me what to do to this man,
Whom I so dearly love,
Despite his incorrigible bad manners!
Should I, with petrol, burn him in his sleep,
Or, simply, strangle him with my feeble hands?
But no, no – O my holy God!
How can I shamelessly do that,
To someone I so dearly love?
Confessions of a Husband!
Dear darling wife,
Whom from so many I chose,
For a wedded wife,
And ‘’for better or for worse,
Till death does us apart’’.
What makes you so angry,
To nag me so, so much,
For my late home-coming?
A man is a man,
No matter what modernity tells you.
I was with other men,
Wisely investing in social capital,
Sharing booze and current ideas,
About nation building and bread and butter:
Not with other women,
As you seem to think.
You incredible woman,
Who doubts my driving license,
Why not freely enjoy fruits of creation,
How and where did I first see you?
Why didn’t you run away,
When these eyes first saw you,
At City Square?
My dear wife,
Eve and Adam,
Your ancestress and ancestor,
Freely tasted the prohibited fruit,
Against providential directives,
Whom am I, therefore,
To disobey indomitable laws of nature,
Because of a cantankerous woman?
My dear wife,
Whom am I, before this tempter,
Like that one who tempted Eve,
Able to look only in one direction,
Not to glance at your sister’s turgid breasts?
Not, not, not… to drink men’s booze…
And what was the meaning,
Of that nuptial vow – ‘’for better, for worse?’’
Non-fictional social experience [especially, during COVID-19 protracted lockdowns during which time, gender related violence, skyrocketed], with a modicum of creative writing.

I did notice a minor spelling error/typo “fulfill” (but we’ve all done that a time or two).
Unique, well crafted and well communicated.
Keep writing.
Well done and yikes...
