trying to define who I am
as a person
A gripping monster
with sharp teeth
hanging on for dear life
Lingering fear, bringing death,
keeping me from being fully alive
Casting a pall
over my life
stealing the warmth of
joy
Joy of my heart
I have left you
in the dark,
dancing in the shadows
of my soul
I have stolen
your freedom,
your warmth now gone
because of the choices
I have made.
Where is God?
Where have I left Him?
Where is His grace?
Where is His warmth?
Do I get so caught up in
my fear
I fail to see God?
Fail to know
the warmth
of His love
and His joy that wants to
permeate my soul?
Light shines in the
tiniest sliver
longing to burst through
the chill
Will I come away
to the Lover of my soul
or will I
continue on in the
dark, dank cold?
