The demons of Doubt and Fear flew stealthily around her, their evil talons piercing her mind and gripping her heart. They delighted in tormenting of her. All the while, angels from the Lord of Hosts stood at the ready, anxiously waiting for their commands. When the appointed time came, they would reveal their presence and send the foul ones back to their sulfurous domain.
The preacher’s wife approached Audra and quietly asked, “Miss Audra, I woke up this morning hearing you singing The King Is Coming. Would you please sing it for me today?”
“Of course I will, Nelly. I would be honored to sing that song. It is one of my favorites too.”
Audra sought the presence of the Lord as she silently continued in prayer and asked for Him to be glorified through her. She pleaded for His Spirit to flow through all that she did. At the same time, Fear and Doubt were trying hard to steal her courage and make her question the gift she’d been given. She felt her breath was being choked out of her and her heart beat furiously as she fought to hold her composure.
The services began and the choir lead the parishioners in song. Each hymn glorified the King of Kings.
Fear and Doubt began to get nervous as they sensed the presence of God’s Holy Angels. Although they could not see them, yet.
The choir director motioned that it was time. Audra stood on shaking legs, feeling the knot tighten in her stomach as she walked slowly to the piano. Fear had his boney hand gripping tightly around her throat, while Doubt clung to her back, digging his talons into her mind. Everyone watched as she closed her eyes and bowed her head slightly before she signaled the pianist to begin. Fear and Doubt struggled violently to maintain their hold. However, in spite of their efforts, Audra pushed past their hindrances.
Whispering quietly to herself she said: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, then she opened her mouth to begin. God’s anointing poured from her spirit through the song. With a blinding flash of light, the hidden host of angels revealed themselves to Fear and Doubt. In short order, golden swords sent the demons back to their abyss.
To those who watched, Audra was the picture of complete confidence. Only she and her unseen helpers knew the battle that had raged only moments before. Most would never know or understand the price she willingly paid in order to minister to them.
