Where did you go I'm asked

attractive in the sense of Blake

thought to be smarter than you were

combining both with thoughtless care

hiding now among magnolias

inspiring the oak and the birch

numbering among the grassy banks

grown restless with the wind



further now than my white porcelain cup

remembering quiet mornings

observing holy Sabbaths

mine one day, yours another



murmuring scripture back and forth

you find that rarely now, such prayer



without malice, drama, or fury

intermingled with shared faith

new thoughts, old friends, now

dried clippings,marriages, funerals

observed with respect here

where the weather changes in my joints



michael, we were friends

you, I am jealous


can you see me here

aging, wandering this dark house, you

timeless, beyond my ability to grasp



in time the house will be empty

no prayer, violin, tea



meeting again, standing with

yeshua, you and I again



laying quietly, warm on my lap

asteriks sleeps like a guard

pausing occasionally to move a paw



time doesn't make prayer easier or

harder for that matter

every one is different, every battle



might make the difference

observed from outside the window

rain drops falling in the garden

no single one makes the river

instead it is both the drop

nestled on the leaf, or

grouped in the puddle on the road



prudent friendships don't carry

assayed hopes, careful faith

surrounded by lions I never hoped for swords

strength to carry till morning is

enough, His strength, for His

duty we are called to



bowing my head, seeking faith

yeshua waits and I serve

I simply cannot think of a better word than "moving." Perhaps "stirring" or "touching." Nevertheless, it is thoroughly all of the above.

I might love this if I could understand it; but it's so far above and over my head. Thanks for sharing; sure wish I could "get it"...I feel so inadequate and yes...dumb. (sorry)

This is lovely. The thoughts seem random like thoughts are, and yet they tell a sad but beautiful tale. Wonderful.

This reminds me of one of those poems you'd hear at a poetry reading at a coffee house. (Not that I've ever been to one -- I've just seen it in the movies.)

Since I'm not a poetry person, I don't get this. But it sounds like it's really profound.
