TITLE: HOPE-ITS | Previous Challenge Entry

With HOPE-ITS as its name,
Invades our minds most everyday
With wishes we might claim.
I cannot tell you where they’re from,
Perhaps from outer space,
But I can tell you that they go
With speed from place to place.
These alien beings in our world
Are HOPE-ITS, good and bad.
If harm is hoped on anyone,
It makes that person sad.
These HOPE-ITS are found everywhere
To fuel our desires.
I’ve one that’s with me all the time;
He never sleeps or tires.
A HOPE-IT DOESN’T RAIN TONIGHT
Came calling out my name
Because my grandson took the field
For an important game.
A HOPE-IT WILL NOT BE TOO LATE
To send my entry in.
There is a prize that’s on the line
That I would like to win.
A gift I’m buying for my son
A HOPE-IT’S A SURPRISE
Because I love to see his face
With pleasure in his eyes.
When I serve dinner to my friends,
A HOPE-IT’S A SUCCESS;
A HOPE-IT’S NOT THE ROAST THAT BURNS.
We’ll wait and see, I guess.
Applying for a fellowship
To occupy my time.
If I should win a special one,
HOPE-IT’S A GUGGENHEIM.
Of all the HOPE-ITS that there are,
When all is said and done,
A HOPE-IT’S PLEASING TO THE LORD
Is quite my favorite one.
