The story in itself held me spell bound unlike any other I had ever seen, so I decided to have my class participate in this presentation, warning them of several breath taking scenes.
The reel began to turn on the big screen. We saw the victims that fell prey and those guilty beyond a doubt; no one seemed innocent so far. I believe the children will see “who done it” before the adults, perhaps. I pray fervently and quietly they are not frightened by this villain so well described through out the pages of the original novel. The evil vs. good is portrayed through this awesome script.
I have become such a huge fan obsessed with this screen play, that I have joined the writer’s guild. This active participation encouraged even me to write. But find it hard to match such beautifully portrayed love, selflessness, and passion as this. I continue to try to express in my own words what this did to me and how so many of the children viewing this have been affected.
Going back to our own lives was difficult to say the least for the class and myself; we were different. Deciding to continue living some of what we saw that day, the class commenced by playing out one scene of this unforgettable story.
“Ben would you be Jesus?” I asked.
Lillian, would you be Jarius’s daughter? I recruited.
The play continued very well displaying some hidden talents, discovered only now. We put on the scene where a young girl was raised from death bed. Doing this method of dramatization, helps the children remember for years to come.
The following week, I decided to do the scene a second time for the benefit of those who were not with us the week before. Ben walked over to the little girl on the death bed, looked at her, rolled his eyes and head, and said, “Oh no, Not you again!” As if to heal her a second time was more than he could handle for a six year old.
I couldn’t help but ask Ben if that would be how Jesus would react, holding back my own laughter as the children giggled.
Ok, ok! We may never be on Broadway, but the point was made about just one of the many wonders of God’s power. One thing we know for sure is, Jesus won’t look at you when you go to Him again, and say “Oh no, Not you again!” He welcomes His children to come to Him no matter what age.
The child like faith even understands the simplicity of this true story. There are still a few more scenes to roll, so grip your seats as it unfolds before our very eyes.
Yes it is a mystery why He would love us so. But I guarantee Jesus wants us to come to Him, trust Him, and what we thought were mysteries will be revealed to us.
Come to the Lord Jesus and I guarantee He will not look at you and say, “Oh no! Not you again!” How He could love us still continues to be the biggest mystery of all to me.
Ephesians 6:19-20…that I may open my mouth boldy, to make know the mystery of the gospel…
