“Read the red,” my father said when I didn’t know what to do.
“Read the red,” my pastor said when my world became confused.
“Read the red,” my husband said whenever I was blue.
“Read the red”.
I open The Book. My eyes they look to find the crimson message.
The words of life are like a stripe woven through each passage.
They challenge me. They help me see that I can make life better.
My fellow man, he needs a hand to hear The Lover’s letter.
I read the red.
“Live the red,” my Saviour says when I see the lost and lonely.
“Live the red,” Jesus says. “It shows the world you know Me.”
“Live the red,” my Father says. “Tell the old, old story.”
“Live the red,” the Spirit says. “Reveal the Father’s glory.”
“Live the red”.
I open my life. I step outside myself and all I want.
I look around and hear the sounds of dying ones that haunt.
To live the red I bow my head. My life is all You need.
Surrender frees Your strength in me. I'll be Your hands and feet.
I’ll live the red.
