God’s Help in His Perfect Time


Yesterday afternoon my Dad had called me to tell me, he had cancer. My Dad does not know Christ as his personal Savior. While talking with him, Dad told me that his life has been playing before him; therefore, there is no way that Christ would save him because he has been too evil.



My Dad felt like his sins were too enormous for God to save him. He would die and go to hell. Every time I tried on my own to tell Dad about Christ, it just did not come out right. It was over my Dad’s head. At that point, I starting praying and asking the Lord to show me what He would have me tell my Dad about Him that he would understand and accept His unfailing love and grace.



When I opened my mouth, words came out that I did not know I had in me. I heard my self-describing forgiveness to Dad by telling him I had forgotten his abusive behavior toward me. That is what God does when He has forgiven us for our sins. Once He has forgiven us, He remembers our sins no more.


I realize that I had finally gotten across my point to my Dad. I also recognized that the Lord was there helping me tell my Dad about Him. I saw many ways that Christ helped us yesterday. When I went to sit down to write, what I wanted to write about “help” just did not come together as I had hoped for it to. Again, I prayed for the Lord to lend a helping hand on what to write. I went to bed last night praying for the Lord to show me what to write on and “please” help me write something touching.


I saw that what I wanted to write and what the Lord had wanted me to write on were two different things. I was looking for the easy way out, when Christ was telling me that I could accomplish something better with His wisdom. Writing can be done with ease, with God as our helpmeet. We are able to do so much more then we can do by ourselves.


Now as for my Dad, he will get through the cancer with God’s help. God will walk him through the daily trails and struggles that come with cancer. If God is going to call him home, God will take him by the hand and lead him home. God will help my Dad to live the remaining days in His loving care.

I enjoyed the article very much. It touched me deeply. Many times we ask for help for the big things but God is more than willing to help with even the tiniest things. The article showed God's mercy, forgiveness and His never ending willingness to help.

You showed very clearly how God helps when we ask him to. I know that it teaching us a lesson, but I think it needs to make people "feel" something too. Very often when we ask God for help, when we have tried so many things that haven't worked, there is a sense of desperation which you also need to convey.
