Quo Vadis - Wither Goest Thou?


If I posed this question, on a warm spring morning, to the Monarch Butterfly, in Mexico or the Logger head Turtle, in the shores of Japan, I wonder what their answer would be. Like father Abraham, they are answering the call of God almighty and proceeding on an unknown journey, to an unknown destination trusting in God. Their faith is rewarded for God leads the butterfly safely to North America and the turtle to the coast of California, and Abraham to the Promised Land. In my own life God has changed the direction to my destination and led me in paths unknown to accomplish His plan for me.


It began during one Sunday morning service in my church. My pastor gave a moving sermon on "Isaiah 6: 8 - Whom shall I send, and who will go for us ? Then said I, Here am I , send me". After the sermon the paster gave an altar call, and I answered and surrendered my life to God and promised to go wherever He would send me. Years passed. God didn't call me. I was living in India. I had a comfortable home, a good job, a Spirit filled church and a loving fellowship.


During that period, I decided to go to USA and visit my daughter, who had settled there. It was only a visit, I was definitely coming back. But God had other plans. King Solomon in his wisdom said," A man's heart deviseth his way; but the Lord directeth his steps". While I was there I volunteered to work in an old age home. I got a job and one thing led to another and within five years I moved from volunteer to nurses aide to LPN and to a Registered nurse. I learned to drive a car. I finally ended up as a staff nurse in a State Hospital for the Mentally Ill. The amazing thing is that at this time I was sixty years old. I worked till my seventieth birthday.


In conclusion all I can say is, if you make a promise to God, He won't forget, He will hold you to it. He will lead you through paths unknown, to a destination you hardly expected. He will always be at your side to guide, protect, encourage and bless you on your way. He did it for me, He will do it for you.

Your entry was a very refreshing read. And your message, even a true story at that, rings true for all of us. It is the years I spent as a secretary and legal assistant that the look of a document is most important. To that end, I would gently suggest you only use the usual double spacing instead of multiple spaces between paragraphs. There was one punctuation correction. But it doesn't negate your fine entry. Just something I always notice, no matter who is submitting the entry. Good job!

This is a sweet story. I love how you showed God plans can differ from ours and turn out more wonderful than we could ever imagine. Be aware of starting common nouns with capital letters. Words like monarch butterfly, loggerhead turtles, registered nurse, state hospital should all start with a lowercase letter. RN and LPN can be tricky because the abbreviations are capped, but not the words. If the words are part of an official name, then you'd cap it: Community Hospital serves locals, but: There is a community hospital nearby. I think you did a fine job of writing on topic, delivering a clear message, and including relevant Scripture.
