Or even come almost quite near
But nonetheless it’s really real
And never becomes more dear.
It may be baseless, or even dreamy,
Be that as it may, it makes no odds,
My mind is adept at thinking deep
Though my thoughts line up rarely with God’s.
Perhaps in my night-time dozing
When busyness lies fast asleep
I may get a glimpse of my dreamland
And God gives me just a small peep.
So often from quite early childhood
I’ve dreamt of a good place to live
Where the wild and I live in sweet pleasure
And each to the other just gives.
It’s precious in day-to-day business
To lift up my eyes, may be see
A future not cumbered with problems
But a life with a fulness that’s free.
Can we find such a life, such a prospect?
Is there anywhere certainty reigns?
Yes, the Bible speaks clearly of Jesus
My King who is coming again.
No ifs, no buts, no may be perhaps,
Not a glimmer of doubt, not a fear
But as sure and as certain as God is himself
Our crucified, risen Lord Jesus
Our “living hope” certain and clear!
