Expect God to Never Fail Us and To Provide For His Chosen People

We should expect the best out of our God and not the worse. We should expect God to keep the promises he made to us in his word and to take care of us if we seek him whole heartedly. Matthew 6:31-33, Therefore take no thought saying, what shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. God will never leave us nor forsake us. He will never fail us (Deuteronomy 31:6). The bible lists many instances where God has proven his love for his creation. One instance in the bible is the story of Elijah and the widow woman. If God chooses you to do something for him he will give you the tools and everything you need to do and accomplish the thing or things he has asked you to do. This is evident in the story of Elijah and the widow woman. God chose Elijah to be a prophet and wise man of knowledge and understanding and the forbearer of things to come. God chose the widow woman to provide temporary provision for his anointed prophet Elijah (I Kings 17: 8-9). And the word of the Lord came unto him saying, (I Kings 17:8) Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to substain thee (I Kings 17:9). And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me there of a little cake first, and bring it unto me and after make for thee and for thy son (I Kings 17:13). For thus saith the Lord God of Israel the barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth (I Kings 17:14). And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she and he and her house, did eat many days (I Kings 17:15). And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:16). The widow woman didn’t question Elijah the man of God about God’s word for her life and her son’s life as far as having enough food is concerned. She had strong faith, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).
Likewise, before God set up provision for Elijah with the widow woman, God gave Elijah drink from the brook of Cherith and the ravens fed him (I Kings 17: 4-5). Birds fed Elijah. God had commanded animals to feed his prophet Elijah. You wouldn’t expect this would be the way God would sustain and keep his anointed prophet alive during a drought in the land because it had not rained. When the brook dried up God set up another temporary provision for Elijah with the widow woman and her son (I Kings 17: 7-16). We should not only expect God to provide for us but we should expect God to answer our prayers as a means of demonstrating his glory and majesty in our lives and sovereignty as the one and only true God of the Universe. God answers Elijah’s prayer for God to answer by fire. Elijah prayed and asked God to demonstrate his power by creating a fire under a burnt sacrifice. (I Kings 17: 36-39). Elijah presented a challenge to the false prophets of the idol god Baal who King Ahab and some of the people were worshipping and sacrificing to instead of God (I Kings 17: 23-24). Ahab had led the people astray. Elijah was trying to prove to them that Baal was not the one true God. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was and is the one true God. God answered Elijah’s prayer and rained down fire under the burnt sacrifice and the people believed again in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Just like Elijah, we must have faith and expect the best of God.
