But ask the animals and they will teach you.

It was one of those difficult times in my life, when troubles keep coming in series!
Anxiety and fear, mounting to gigantic proportions,threatened to overwhelm me. I knew I had to shift my focus from poor, poor me to poor, poor someone else. The only person I could imagine to fit that "someone " would be the Bible character,Job. I started to read the Book of Job.

I had to stop when I came to chapter 12,verse 7: "But ask the animals and they will teach you". What was Job talking about? Was there some animal wise enough to get me out of my troubles. My thoughts went back to a camping trip on Adirondack mountains. One morning, on one of my hiking trips I had encountered a beaver building a dam. I was fascinated that this small fellow could build a dam that scientists said was more strong and efficient than man made dams.

How did he did he do it? I figured he would not be able to assess the height of the tree he needed to span the width of the stream he had selected. But his little brain had the God given knowledge to calculate the height of the tree from the circumference of the trunk. Secondly he had to cut right through the trunk at a specific angle to make the tree fall across the stream to block the flow of water. He didn't have an electric saw or an axe, but he had his God given powerful teeth. Thirdly he had the God given patience and perseverance to cut through the tree one mouthful at a time. This then was the lesson he was teaching me.

"Consider the resources that God has given you. Pray for wisdom and power (To God belong wisdom and power. Job 12:13). Pray also for patience and endurance. And you will be surprised as you walk through your problems one step at a time. Don't let fear and doubts discourage you."

Physical Giants do not exist in today's world, but spiritual Giants do. They are the emissaries of Satan. Puffed up with their own pride and equipped with that powerful weapon Fear, they prowl all over the world seeking whom they may devour. Those who lack faith in their all powerful God, and are wallowing in hopelessness, helplessness, fearfulness and self pity are his easy target.
And so let us trust in our God , to whom belongs strength and victory. ( Job.12:16) to overcome and destroy these seeming Giants.

A heartwarming story about the beaver. Thank you. And a good reminder to dig into even the more obscure books of the Bible for inspiration.

A wonderful concept. We humans tend to make things too complicated, so it's a great comparison to remember animals like the beaver who simply overcome problems one step at a time.
I also appreciate your specific observations about how the beaver got the angle of the tree just right. Sometimes little details make a big difference.
