NEWS FROM CAPERNAUM
The traveling preacher is at it again, folks. He has been somewhat of a nuisance until this point, but now he has really overstayed his welcome. It seems as though we have to begin to look into what to do about the ‘way-out’ stuff he is trying to get us to believe.


Get this one: The word around town is that he is telling his followers to forgive everyone who sins against us – “seventy times seven,” he said. Don’t you have a life-size picture of that? Can you imagine – now really come on?


Townsfolk are questioning whether he is actually trying to get us to think that we should not get even with someone who has done us wrong? Where is he coming off trying to get us to change our viewpoints? Haven’t our old laws worked thus far? Why would we ever want to change them now I ask you? There can’t possibly be people who subscribe to this stuff. We know better, don’t we? Who is this guy anyway? Does anyone know where he comes from? Who are these people who seem to be always with him? Do we have some serious insurrection potential here?

INSIDE CHRISTIANITY
From this reporter’s perspective, perhaps there is something to Jesus’ conversation with Peter. Perhaps we should listen – to some of it anyway?


After all, we do know what he is talking about as far as the slave begging his master to be patient with him. Most of us have slaves – right? And wouldn’t we want our master to be understanding with us if we owed him a debt? It seems pretty simple to me. The ‘eye for an eye’ stuff is not the way we would want to be treated, is it? So, what’s wrong with what he is saying? Let’s follow him and listen.
