Bitty let out a long sigh and said, “I’m not going to Tiddly Winks Day.”
Pansy stopped sipping her hot tea to exclaim, “Everyone in United Kingdom has to go. It is the King’s orders, you must go!”
“I’m tired of the King bullying everyone into playing his games. Why can’t we have pick-up sticks, or marbles? A game of jacks would be a nice change,” said Bitty.
“Bitty, do I need to remind you this is King Hawk? If you don’t play tiddly winks you will be eaten.”
“I must travel to United Kingdom to tell the King I’m tired of playing tiddly winks.”
Pansy’s eyes filled with fear, “If you must go I will travel with you. Together we will face the King and tell him no more games of tiddly winks.”
Bitty and Pansy traveled down Green Forest Road, over Babbling Brook Bridge, and beyond the road to Grandma’s house.
“Bitty, I can see the rocky cliffs of the United Kingdom. It is not much further.”
“Soon you and I will face King Hawk together; you are a true friend Pansy Rabbit.”
When they arrived at the Deep Woods, in the middle of the road stood an old owl. With his round yellow eyes he peered down at the mouse and the rabbit.
“Whooooo goes there?”
“Sir Owl, I’m Bitty Mouse. I have come to see the King.”
“And whooooo are you?” he asked Pansy.
“I’m Pansy Rabbit; I have also come to see the King.”

“Ah yes, you are the ones whooooo want to stop Tiddly Winks Day. Whooooo ever heard of such a silly idea?”
The thought of being eaten by the old owl made Pansy shake with fear. Bitty and she would never arrive to see the King to tell him no more games of tiddly winks.
The old owl led them past the King’s army of badgers to the rocky cliffs of the United Kingdom. From a high cliff King Hawk swooped down and landed in front of Bitty and Pansy.
Bitty never imagined the King would be so large. His beady orange eyes glared down at her and Pansy. She took a big gulp, pushed back her shoulders, and held her head high.
“King Hawk, I’m tired of playing tiddly winks, I want to play different games.”
With a fearful voice Pansy said, “Me, too.”
Bitty stood tall as any mouse could and Pansy waited in fear to be eaten any time now. The sound of the King’s voice seemed to fill the woods with doom.
“Different games? What different games? How can there be different games?”
“Your Highness, there are many different kinds of games we can play.” Bitty tried to sound brave.
“I know of no other game but tiddly winks. Why did no one tell me of these different games?”
“Your Highness, there are pick-up sticks, marbles, jacks, and many others. If it pleases you sir, Pansy and I can teach you these games.”
After King Hawk learned all the different games he proclaimed Tiddly Winks Day would be changed to Game Day. He declared Bitty and Pansy with the honored title of United Kingdom Game Makers.

Not being from the UK, I'm not sure if there's political satire here, or just a delightful children's story...but if it's not satire of the actual UK on the map (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), it might be a bit off-topic.
But it was very fun to read, and I'd love to see it illustrated in pastel watercolors.
