Her husband couldn't understand why she was suddenly grasping tightly to God when things were just as bad off for them as ever. They both were Christians, she has been a Christian much longer then him, and his faith was wavering. He no longer wanted to go to church after feeling like him getting laid off was the last straw.
Her daughter's sixteenth birthday was coming up and she knew she was not going to get a car as promised. She saw the strain in her parent's faces as financial struggle kept them from doing things that they have always done. She saw how her mother walked around the house with Bible in hand and how she would see her eyes close ever so slightly from time to time. She saw her father's grumbling and complaining and she didn't know how to make things better.
Joanne received a word one Sunday morning in her heart. She was getting ready for church and as she was shaking her head at husband as he buried himself deeper under the covers she heard a still small voice. "Joanne your confidence in Me will not go unnoticed."
But just then there was a knock on the door. She peeked through the peephole, thinking that it was strange for anyone to be at the door this early Sunday morning. There standing there was a police officer. He stood with an irritated look on his face clutching papers in his hand.
Joanne sighed, she knew what it could be. Their debt had gotten so out of control that they couldn't pay anything anymore. She sighed as she grabbed the door knob. Just then she remembered the voice in her heart. The voice of her savior telling her that He noticed her struggles. She lifted up her head and prayed. She believed that this was not going to be what she thought it was.
When she opened the door, the police officer handed her papers. He told her they have been trying to reach her but their phone was disconnected and to come to the hearing to sign for the money.
Money?! Joanne could hardly speak. She shut the door and quickly read over the papers. The settlement for an accident she was in 5 years ago had come through. It was enough to take care of all their debt and then some.
She ran and woke up her husband and daughter. They yelled and celebrated and cried. Her husband fell to his knees pleading for forgiveness saying that he will never lose confidence in God's love again. Her daughter cried and prayed as well. But Joanne knew that by her giving her problems UP to the Lord her confidence didn't go unnoticed.
