“I wrote everything down so I wouldn’t forget my point and get too emotional to continue,” she said.
“I wrote nothing down because I fail to see how it was worth killing trees and wasting ink over,” I said.
“It was deceit, plain and simple,” she said, “and all I want is for some acknowledgment of your part in the deceit.” She flipped her hair, and I noticed that when the sunlight hit her forehead it made a funny design—kind of looked like a jackrabbit hopping across a dirt road to escape a coyote.
I looked away from her. Deceit? All I had done was had the audacity to roll the toothpaste from the middle instead of from the bottom. How had she found out my crime? Had she been digging in the trash—again? I paused. “I didn’t tell you about the toothpaste because--I guess I just figured it was none of your business. I’m having a hard time seeing the deceit of rolling the toothpaste from the middle. Does it really matter?” I said.
“You forced me to have an opinion on the matter. You will waste approximately twenty five cents per toothpaste container should you persist in this course of action” she said. “I’m not sure I can live in the same neighborhood with you if you insist on living your life so lavishly.”
And it was then and there that I resolved never again to be so confident of my own correctness—and to give others the same free will given to all folks.

I'm afraid that if I were grading the gaps in thought hurt the excellent writing significantly.
