Do not think too much of yourself,
Exalting yourself before others,
Grabbing the first seat at the table,
Claiming your station, your rightful place,
So that you may shine before your fellow man,
When you have not been assigned a seat,
When you have been invited to the banquet.
Watch your step, choose your spot,
Find a place in the back, be humble,
Be the last, the servant, the other,
Do not worry about your position,
Let your light shine before God only,
Let Him choose your seat at the table,
The Bridegroom at the wedding banquet.
For what matters is the Bridegroom,
Our risen Lord and Savior, His return,
How He finds us seated at the banquet,
Whether we have sought reward on earth,
Or if we have been the servant, humble,
This is what matters, what counts in heaven,
So, be careful, choose your seat wisely…
