Two major groups of people that exist in this world are the spiritually unborn and the born again Christians. The spiritually unborn are mostly composed of the ungodly people in this world. However, there are some people who are spiritually unborn because they have never heard the good news of our savior Jesus Christ. These individuals have never been given the opportunity to confess their sins, accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, receive forgiveness for their sins, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, inherit eternal life and eternal joy, while enjoying a life committed to serving Christ and others.
On the other hand, the born again are those who have confessed their sins, accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, have been baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, received forgiveness for their sins, have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, eternal life (salvation) and eternal joy, and who enjoy a life committed to serving Christ and others. For, “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” (I John 1:9).
The spiritually unborn, have many characteristics. The spiritually unborn are the unsaved, those living in sin, the unholy, the uncircumcised in the heart, the spiritually blind, and the ones who walk in darkness instead of the light. 2 Timothy chapter 3 verses one through five, give a detailed description of the unborn, or spiritually blind. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away,” (2 Timothy 3: 1-5).
There are also many characteristics of the born again: the saved, the repentant, the holy, the circumcised in heart. The born again are God's: children. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus,” (Galatians 3:26). The born again are those who are walking in the Spirit. The ungodly or unborn walk in the flesh. “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh,” (Galatians 5:16). The born again bear spiritual fruit. The unborn spiritually are unable to bear good fruit. The fruit that born again Christians bear are, “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit,” (Galatians 5: 22-25).
How do we become born again Christians? The first thing we need to do to become born again: is to confess our sins to Christ, accept Christ as our savior, be baptized and receive the gifts of eternal life, eternal joy, and the Holy Spirit. God would have, “that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the Spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another,” (Ephesians 4: 22-25). We must put on Christ because Christ is love. God is love. “But put ye on the Lord Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof,” (Romans 13:14).
We must renew our minds daily; because the Bible tells us it is what comes out of a man that defiles him (Matthew 15:11). For James chapter 3 verse 8 tells us that, “the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly (unborn) evil, full of deadly poison.” Ephesians chapter 4 verses 29-32, tells us how to crucify our tongue daily. We must let God's word circumcise our hearts, so we can walk in love with God and our fellow man (Romans 2: 29). We must be like Christ, who is not unborn, but born of God, who is the image of the living God.
