Around 92 years of age, my grandmother went to be with the Lord. In her early years, she served as a Bible woman in the southernmost part of India. Bible woman is similar to being a Pastor but back then, as women Pastors were not encouraged in churches, my grandmother served as a Bible woman. As part of that ministry, she went door to door to share the gospel with the women of the households. She taught them sewing. She also taught them some basic math to be able to manage the money they make with this skill.

Even during the later years when I was a little girl, I have seen my grandmother sit near the kitchen door and sew hand embroidery for hours. She did that for a Christian organization. That is a significant memory I have of my grandmother. My grandmother had mentioned being a Bible woman. But during those days, we did not understand the depth of impact that she had made in her village. I am humbled by her humility in a world that brags about everything.

In 2011, when she went to be with the Lord, her funeral had such a big crowd of people who were waiting in a queue to talk about the impact that she had made in their lives. And in honor of her ministry, a church established a pillar with her life story on one of the sides of the pillar.

Mathew 25:34 NKJV "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in:
36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me'

It is a God-given privilege for me to be her granddaughter. I am thanking God for this rich heritage that He has given me. Knowing this heritage, I am striving to follow in her footsteps to glorify God in what I do and to be humble in all that I do.
