What is dominion? It is a word currently used often in culture today. Obviously it can be used for many things such as, equipment to inanimate things like power to control in situations in homes, Churches, relationships, the list goes on.
My religious background is truly woven by most of the Denominations and yet I did not learn from the teachings they provided to me any of what I will say in this article. I learned it from reading the Bible and finding myself in situations that called upon me to “see if it works.”
There are two times I have urgently needed authority, given to us by Jesus Himself, and both times the result was to me astounding.
My first experience was on a Farm, owned by a Doctor from the Hospital at which I was employed. I had 5 children to support and with no assistance at that time, so I had an “on the side cleaning service” to help my finances. The Doctors wife hired me to clean their home. Often they were not there and on this occasion they were at work.
A knock at the door revealed the information that one of the horses had broken the fence and had been on the highway, the man at the door had gotten her into the yard, but now it was my duty to get her into her stall.
I did what I thought would do the job. I told her, “Go to your stall.” That didn’t work. After several such commands it was clear that her long face was set in stubbornness. I thought a prayer to God, “What do I do?”
To my mind came the Scripture text about being made now, by Jesus, to have dominion over the birds of the air and ALL things. There was a vicious black cloud bringing up a storm very soon and this thing had to go down in a hurry. I thought, “Well, I could try it!”
I looked that horse in the eyes and said, “I command you, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, go to your stall!”
She stomped a foot, snorted lowering her head to say she did not agree, and then turned and painstakingly plodded to her stall and entered it.
When the Lady of the house returned I reported the broken fence and the fact that I had put the horse into the stall and secured it.
Her face showed amazement, “How did you do that? She is the most stubborn horse we own!”
“Umm,” I thought, “shall I tell her?”
I said, “Take a seat, I don’t know if you are ready to hear this report.”
I told it as it had happened. I did not know she was a Jewess, but basically non religious.
Later a mutual friend of ours said that she was actually filled hope by the report and had herself said to the God she was not certain was there, “God, IF You ARE there, I need help.”
I have not seen her since then. They moved shortly after that time.
Last month I saw her obituary in the local paper reporting all her life engagements and that she was very active in the Anglican Church.
The second incident happened as I drove into my drive way one Summer
afternoon; I saw 5 dogs I had not seen before. When they saw me, I viewed what I have seen only in movies.
All the dogs ran toward my car like maniacs, teeth blaring. I hurriedly closed my window because one of them intended to attack me directly and bounced off my window as I closed it. Another one was trying to get in by way of the windshield, the others were on the hood. All of them were growling and were, I did not doubt, demon possessed.
I recalled the incident with the horse and rolled my window down enough to give the COMMAND. I commanded them in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth to leave my yard and never return.
Their response was the same as the horse. They snorted and with stomping steps, they left and I never saw them again.
