New in Christ

Your new life begins when you are In Christ.
2 corinthians 5 verse 17
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

It’s a new beginning. While your withering body is still the same your heart of stone is replaced with a heart of flesh. One that is not content with the things of this world but the things of God. There is a gradual shift in your thoughts and desires. This shift may be gradual but at times it is strong. Small transgressions towards others that you would not care about before now bring with it a conviction that stops you in your tracks and something tells you that you need to make it right.
Now that you are in Christ you begin to put others before yourself, or at least you should. Not in the capacity that you bleed your bank account and forsake your family but within your means. Sure there are some times when you have to leave your family to go on a mission trip for a few days but if you do it for the glory of God in your heart, it is good.
But with a new heart and new desires comes a new persecution so to speak. The Christians of today in the U.S are persecuted for their faith but not as drastically as in other countries that are proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have it good comparatively. Even so James 1 verses 2-4 bears a good reminder
“2Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

So when we begin this new life in Christ know that there will be trials and tribulations but we have a new heart that He put in us so we can be strong in the Lord.

Great message. A suggestion to make it pop even more would be to add some clear examples, from your own life or the lives of others to inspire the reader into practical application of your message.

You make some great points in this devotion. I like that you started with a Bible verse. Unfortunately many will skip the verse or reading altogether if they see a verse at the beginning. If that happened, your first paragraph wouldn't make sense, so you should state the what the new beginning is right off. Also remember to cap books of Bible and put them in quotes and site from which version you are quoting. You did a fine job of writing on topic in a typical way while delivering a relevant message. With a bit of tweaking and maybe a prayer, you could enter this as a devotional in many places, including FW devotions.
