Topic: FAITHFULNESS (10/07/21)
There’s a donkey in my drawing room
Loud braying its delight
Then Jesus took up residence -
And the donkey took to fight.

Rambunctious or offended
In equal shares to prove
Its tenancy was legal
And the donkey meant to rule.

I feared the Honored Resident
Would grow weary of it all
But morning after morning
I heard His loving call.

'I never will forsake you
Come sit with Me; observe
You’ll find My faithfulness is written,
By My Spirit in the Word'.

That’s where I learned commitment
Despite my donkey soul
The fruit of the Spirit tamed me,
As was His steadfast goal.

So what of the loud braying
When the dining room we passed
To find that Soul could not agree
With the restraining word of ‘ fast?’

The answer was His faithfulness
To gentle the unruly beast
And slowly, oh so slowly
His Word became the feast

Oft times the head-strong donkey
Would mirror a stubborn face
With mine, in vain suggestions
That lacked amazing grace.

And still He showed no horror -
The Lord refused to leave
And somehow a half-trained donkey
Began slowly to believe.

The taming of my Eeyore,
Remains a constant task
While His ever-present Spirit
Proves Love will always last.

Of all He is as Saviour,
And His residence provide,
My overwhelming wonder
Is how much He loves His Bride.

I know of Love unchanging
Faithful is His right hand
My name is on that white stone
Within the Promised Land.

I seldom even read poetry but your first line caught my attention. I actually love the poem--great theme. I think leaving off the last two verses would make it even better because they are a different theme. But I'm no poet so take that critique with a grain of salt.
