It was October and it was quite cold. I wore a very warm hat, gloves, and a warm fur coat. We visited Cavern Cascade, a place with breathtaking waterfalls. Nearby a river meandered through rocky places on the hill until it emptied into Glen Creek. It was nearly perfect in its splendor and magnificence.
My father and I decided to hike to the top of one of the cliffs. Gorge Trail was wonderful. We hiked to the top of the cliffs, going up the stone steps. It was quite steep, but well worth it because of the view.
It was special for me because I was able to share this experience with my father. He appreciated nature and scenery and especially enjoyed the great outdoors. He also loved the Creator and knew Him as his Savior as well as his Lord. I had only been saved for a short time, but Dad had known the Lord for years.
Soon it was time to go back to the bottom of the cliffs and return to the parking area. The trip down should have taken much less time, but we were really enjoying all of the scenery again. It was better looking at the view coming down, since we did not need much energy for the return trip.
We were having a great time taking more photos and just rejoicing in God’s wonderful creation. The Lord gave us time to think about His love and how much we appreciated His handiwork in creation.
We thought about other things as well. It was amazing to both of us how we were saved from God’s wrath. The Lord showed us how much He loved us, and we realized anew that if He had not stepped in and saved us, we would still be unsaved. We suddenly thought of something neither of us had ever thought about before.
The Lord walked on stone paths so we could walk on streets of gold one day in heaven. The Lord dragged Himself up Mount Calvary to be nailed to a cross for us so we could run in our new bodies in the new heaven and new earth, never to get tired or weary again.
We have so much to be grateful for this spring. Let us raise our voices and praise God for our wonderful Savior and King! Praise the Lord!
