Hope is tangible, but yet cannot be held in one's hand. I can see hope in the eyes of my beautiful new granddaughter. I can see hope in the hands of my four year old grandson as he builds a tower with his blocks as high as he possibly can. I can see hope in the feet of my seven year old granddaughter as she runs as fast as she can to beat any one who tries to match her speed. Hope is their future; hope will enable them to strive for a better tomorrow. They may not understand that today, so it is my responsibility as their grandma to make sure that my hope is always in the present.
My hope is tangible and I need to hold it in my hand everyday. My hope needs to touch them in every way; my hope needs to touch them as we walk hand in hand, as we read books, as I give them food and treats, as we play at the park, as we pray, and as we say goodbye when visits come to an end. My hope is Jesus! He is right there with me; He is the hope that guides me and holds my hand along the way. I hold faith and hope in my hand as Jesus holds me in the palm of His hand. I will never let go!
My grandchildren mean the world to me. My hope is in them and in the God who made them. I believe that their hope is in me; their hope is in Jesus just as mine is!
