One might inquire what started my spiral downhill, as I was just three years into my Christian walk, my Personal Relationship with God the Father. I took the time to set my alarm early to have study time alone before work. We also made sure that our children were grounded in God's Word, and they were ages fourteen; twelve; and nine when my Spiritual meltdown happened. Pretty much the only time that I think of it is when I'm ministering to someone struggling with downheartedness.
I had just received the biggest Punch in the gut ever. This real blow to the stomach came on a Friday out of the blue; I was laid off, terminated, fired, without any warning. Last hired and first to go, I had heard people use this phrase before, but not to me, now this was personal, very personal!
I was ashamed, so I just motored around aimlessly, wondering why our Father would allow this to happen to me with a family of five, including me, to feed and clothe.
I didn't make it home until an hour or so past my usual home arrival time. I didn't feel like talking, so I told my wife that I didn't feel well, in other words, like myself. I moved swiftly to our bedroom and closed the door behind me without even greeting our children.
The next morning, I didn't even rise for my time of prayer and study, nor did I pray over my family before they started their day. I acted very much as a child and moored myself in. We communicated through the door as never before, and my tone alarmed her, and she knew something was seriously wrong. What she did next, I will forever be grateful; she summoned two of my closest Christian buddies to the house. I Praise God for such a Godly and wise wife; she is of much value to me. She knew that at this moment I was broken.
These two brothers brought along their wives, who stayed with my wife, as these two Men of God prayed and reasoned with me. Shortly I strongly felt the presence of the Holy Spirit within me once again. I felt the " Anointing " The Burden removing, Yoke destroying the Power of God within me. You see, it wasn't that the Holy Spirit left me, but my hurt feelings and dubitation that caused me to crash and burn in doubt(s)for those many hours. I finally remembered that Nothing is impossible with God. It seems like more and more folks go through this emotional ailment called depression. When I went through my temporary battle, I had two Godly men remind me of the Father's love. They also told me to meditate on His goodness throughout the Bible. Before too long, that so-called Punch in the gut wasn't so bad after all, and I was chock-full of hope. The next time that you are down and feeling like you don't have a way out, call upon the Father and don't stop; don't give up on him as he will never give up on you.
