Finally, the phone rang, the news came, a beautiful baby boy had entered this world.
Another life to love.
In amongst the waiting a scripture had come to mind:
‘We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently’.
Romans 8:22-23 (NIV)
Are we waiting expectantly and eagerly with patience for our future glory? Do we ponder on what is to come when this world is transformed into the new Creation of the fullness of Eternity?
Life has a way of distracting us, especially now, as this pandemic continues to affect millions of lives across the world. People are suffering grief, some fear, and all of us to some degree, are affected by the restrictions of our daily lives through lockdown. I wonder, if we were to see everything in the light of Eternity,Wa would it make a difference in the way we live, go through difficult sometimes tragic seasons? When we see the monstrosities that occur in this world now, don’t we sometimes long for God to say ‘Enough!’
The last words recorded by Jesus in the Bible are, ‘Yes I am coming soon’
Similar to our waiting for our new grandchild, who was coming soon, Jesus wants us to remember so is He. We just don’t know when.
We have this Hope, the best is yet to come, and come it will. Every day we are walking towards Heaven, step by step. In our hearts, we are already Home. My prayer for you is that you will not give up your hope, you will eagerly await your redemption, giving you strength especially as the Day draws nearer.
He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon’ Revelation 22:20
Lord when we struggle through difficult times, when we see the injustices in this world, when we feel like it’s all too much, and we want to give up, please help us to remember the Hope that we have in You. A Day is coming, when You will make all things new, and there will be no more suffering, or pain or tears. Thank You Jesus Your words are faithful and true. Our hope is in You.
