When Momaw said something about the cat’s pajamas I was dying although secretly concerned. It was hard to picture a cat in pajamas. To make matters worse, poor thing, she said she had been a wallflower at the senior dance. When I asked her what that meant, she said, “don’t have a cow.” Trust me, I never had a cow; I live in the city. Hip chick that I am, I began to search out the meaning of such things. I got into my great ride and drove around so I could think. She figured out what I was doing. Busted! I tried to get her off track because she had now become my frenemy. Should I go along with her or invent some ginormous tale to explain my actions?

What follows is the epic story of my research. First of all, I realized that Momaw was an ultra-woman who moved with fierce abandon. She was truly a GOAT. Most of her doings were on point and definitely lit. Though she was coin-shy, she knew how to make the most of what she had. We had been truly bae when I was growing up but now it was a little different. Our relationship had become fairly basic because both of us had become somewhat low-key as we matured. We could read each other fairly well. It is true that we could be salty about some things, but she could be truly savage at times.

Momaw could throw some serious shade and that made it a little harder for me to get through to her about Jesus. I told her YOLO and that she needed to give her life to Him. I prayed for her to be woke to Him. You know what happened? She became thirsty and she gave her heart to Jesus! Man, that is so rad!

In time, I learned about all of the weird things that Momaw would say. Those were the expressions that people would use in her era. Today, our slang is different and, I suppose, the next gen will have their own lingo too.
